Endangered Species Chocolate

With earth preservation being a hot button topic nowadays, seems like new "earth friendly" products are popping up everywhere... but I'm sure none of them taste as good as Endangered Species Chocolates.

Eating this chocolate is actually good for the environment, because their facilities are 100% wind powered and by implementing the use of energy efficient HVAC and electricial components, Endangered Species Chocolates has been able to save over 40% on their annual energy usage. Other green features of their facilities include, water efficient equipment and a revamped labeling system which cut scrap down to 2%, which means less trees being cut down and less waste going into our waterways.

I never need an excuse to eat chocolate, but this is chocolate you don't have to feel guilty about eating.

Here's something from their website that I found extremely enlightening....

Sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ cacao farms, our organic chocolate supports ecosystem conservation and ensures fair, honorable treatment of farmers and their families. These farms meet rigorous social and environmental standards set by the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN). Audits conducted by non-governmental organizations ensure that the following principles are met:
  • Fair treatment and good working conditions for farmers
  • Ecosystem conservation
  • Water conservation
  • Occupational health and safety
  • Wildlife protection
  • Responsible crop, soil and waste management

I love that this company makes the extra effort to assure that the farmers get fair treatment. Too many times, we use a product or eat a food, without any regard to where it comes from, who makes it or if it's even safe... Not with Endangered Species.

Not only do they make sure they use the most efficient processes and products, they also give back to the environment. 10% of net profits of every single bar sold  goes back to organizations who support species conservation, habitat preservation and humanity efforts around the world.

Need another reason to eat Endangered Species Chocolates? Would it help if I told you that eating chocolate can be good for you? Scientists have learned that eating dark chocolates in small quantities can actually promote heart health, help cells resist damage from free radicals and can help you better cope with stress.

So all that is fine and good, but what about the taste? One word.... AMAZING! This chocolate tastes like chocolate should. It doesn't taste all fake and full of junk. Even upon opening the box it was shipped in, I could smell the yummy chocolatey goodness that was inside. I received the dark chocolate with peppermint crunch, which will make a great stocking stuffer for any chocolate lover in your life. The dark chocolate with almonds and cranberries is AWESOME, and would be great for the "naturalist" on your list. The dark chocolate with raspberries is my personal fave, the flavors are so bright and natural... Perfection!!!

So if you're looking for a good stocking stuffer, or a great bite of chocolate after a long day of holiday shopping, I highly advise you to try Endangered Species Chocolates for yourself. Use this link to go to check out a few of the featured collections, you will be glad you did!
