Emerson Creek Handmade Pottery (Review and Giveaway)

Emerson Creek Pottery is located in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. Founded in 1977, by Priscilla Palmer and Jim Leavitt, Emerson Creek Pottery is continuing the age old tradition of American hand made pottery, in a contemporary way.

Sumi-e Brushwork   Emerson Creek pieces are entirely 100% hand thrown, hand  painted, made from clay found onsite. The designs are studied, practiced and commited to memory by the skilled artisans, before they even begin to paint them, no stencils or templates are ever used.  Each piece is microwave and dishwasher safe, lead free and completely oven proof. Emerson Creek has an awesome selection of patterns and dishes. From their heirloom Iris pattern to the whimsical blue crab, there's a design for everyone's taste.

I recently had the opportunity to check out this beautifully handcrafted pottery for myself. I chose the Red Poppy appetizer plate and I am very impressed. The package arrived in a timely manner and was very well wrapped, to keep it from breaking in transit. The plate had no visible burrs or rough spots in the clay, no chips, no paint drips or any of the other things that you might see with a traditionally machine crafted or painted piece. This particular piece would look great displayed with a stand or for use during a fancy dinner. This plate would also make a wonderful Christmas gift that can be handed down from generation to generation.
